[She's embarrassed and horrified and more sorry than anyone can know. But she puts on the brave face like a good X-man, and ends up just looking tired.]

Ah'm really gettin' tired of wakin' up in here. Tell me this place gives vacation time.

[Because this time she actually brings somethings with her, like clothes.

Presently, she knocks on his door, feeling a definite sense of deja vu. ]

[Clothes do tend to be pretty useful. He doesn't go to the door when she knocks, just waves his hand so the door opens on its own. He's tidying the room up, which really only consists of straightening the piles of books on his desk. It's an assorted mix, from genetics to European literature.]

Come in.

[She wasn't quite at home, but she was definitely more at ease entering his space than the first time. Just stepping across the threshold made her feel steadier, safer. Erik would watch her back. No one was going to surprise attack her as long as she was here. It was just a fact.

And because she feels more secure, if not more mentally steady, she can manage a small smile and tease him just a bit.]

Y'know a bookshelf might be a better place for all those. Easier t'organize at the very least.

[He smiles wryly and shrugs. She's certainly right, and he's organized them before - but they always wind up back here.] Perhaps. But then it would be easier to discern which are library books that I've refused to return.

They charge late fees on this boat? [This was good, easy, comfortable. Just casual talk, like she was okay and not here because she was two steps from falling apart. You are what you pretend to be right?]

I couldn't say. I'm too afraid to find out. [He smirks, shrugging again and spreading his hands.] The librarian is a dragon, you know.

Chromie? But she's so tiny! [The smile she had on her face from the normal-esque talk fades at the edges, as her eyes track to the side, like she was looking at something that was moving around his room. But then she blinks and looking back at Erik.] Learn something new every day.

Yes. [His smirk turns to a real smile, at least until her attention seems to shift.]

What is it?

Nothin'. [It's an automatic response. Something you say to keep others from worrying. And immediately she corrects herself.]

Just a side effect of grabbin' onto someone with a really powerful personality. Once Ah get my mind straightened out, it'll stop.

[At least, that's the plan.]

[Something you say to keep those who who don't employ that particular facade themselves: as it is, Erik is very familiar with the compassionate lie. Charles and Alex have used it aplenty.

As it is, he frowns, though more out of curiosity than anger or annoyance.]

And how do you get it straightened out?

Meditation. Lots of it. He broke a lot of what Ah've built over the passed two years. Gotta rebuild.

[She was thinking of it as Hurricane Alpha, and it was an apt name for it.]

[The frown stays: there's some anger lurking there, but not for her.]

Do you need help?

Charles has offered, and Ah'll take him up on it if Ah can't do it on mah own. [She gives him a small smile.] Ah've gone through this sort of thing before.

I can't imagine that makes it any easier.

Things that are worthwhile are never easy.

Nothing's ever easy. [He can't help the wry smile, there.]
